Privacy Policy

Mood is a personal mood tracker. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is stored, and your rights over it.

What we collect

When you use Mood without an account, all data stays on your device in your browser's localStorage:

Mood entries — a 2D position (energy/valence), optional note, and timestamp
Checks and check logs — habit names and completion timestamps
Preferences — theme, astrology toggle, checks toggle

When you create an account, the following is stored in our cloud database (Supabase):

Your email address
Mood entries, checks, and check logs linked to your user ID
Profile metadata: birthday, birth time, birth place (if you enable Astrology), and app preferences

How we use your data

To sync your data across devices when you are signed in
To render your natal chart and daily transits if Astrology is enabled (computed locally in your browser — birth data is not sent to any astrology service)
To send magic-link sign-in emails via Supabase Auth

We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising or analytics profiling.

Third-party services

Supabase — database, authentication, and cloud sync. supabase.com/privacy
Google Fonts — font delivery. Requests are made to Google's servers when the app loads.
Nominatim / OpenStreetMap — used for birth place search when Astrology is enabled. No account data is sent; only the place search query.
Umami Analytics — privacy-friendly, cookieless page-view analytics hosted at good.lasagna.pizza. No personal data or fingerprinting.
Google OAuth — optional sign-in method. If used, Google shares your email address with us per Google's OAuth policy.

Data retention

Your cloud data is retained for as long as your account exists. Deleted entries are marked with a deletion timestamp and permanently removed after 90 days. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

Local-only users

If you never create an account, no data ever leaves your device. Clearing your browser data permanently deletes your moods — we have no copy.

Your rights

Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you
Deletion — request permanent deletion of your account and data
Portability — your mood entries can be exported on request
Correction — update your profile data directly in the app

Cookies

Mood does not use cookies for tracking. Supabase Auth uses a session token stored in localStorage (not a cookie) to keep you signed in.

Children

Mood is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
